Susan M. Bearden, CETL
Susan M. Bearden, CETL is the Chief Innovation Officer for the Consortium for School Networking. A former teacher and school technology director, she helps educators and IT leaders leverage technology to support innovative teaching and learning. In 2016 she was awarded a Senior Education Pioneers Fellowship at the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Educational Technology where she led the 2017 update of federal government’s K-12 school infrastructure guide, Building Technology Infrastructure for Learning. The author of “Digital Citizenship: A Community-Based Approach,” she has received numerous awards including the 2019 ATLIS Pillar Award, being named one of the Center for Digital Education’s 2015 “Top 30 Technologists, Transformers and Trailblazers,” the 2015 “Making IT Happen” Award from FSTE, and the 2014 Bammy Award for School Technologist of the Year. She currently resides in Alexandria, VA with her husband Chris and two corgis.
