New Board Members
With the new fiscal year comes new and returning
board members, including...
- Mary
Ann Rankin, ISTE Liaison. Mary Ann replaces
longtime veteran and past president Michele Crowley.
- Brett
Higgins, Region 5 Rep. Brett replaces Erin
Waggoner, who is our incoming Vice President.
KySTE
also welcomes new president Diana McGhee, who automatically
rotates to that position from Vice President. We also thank
Andrew Conyers (Region 7 Rep) and Brent Hoover (Region 8 Rep)
who were appointed this year due to sudden vacancies. For a
complete list of the 2013-14 KySTE Board, see our KySTE
Board page.
Planning Committee
As
a reminder, the Planning Committee is charged with designing
the Fall Event and spring conference.
Save the dates!!
- Fall
Event: Incoming VP Erin Waggoner is joining CASTLE in
partnership with the University of Kentucky College of
Education to offer a 1-1/BYOD workshop as a new approach to
the KySTE Fall Event.
- New
date: Monday, Oct.
28, 2013
- New
Location: Lexington Convention Center
(adjacent to Rupp Arena and the Hyatt).
- Cost:
The workshop will be open to non-KySTE members, but
members will receive a discounted rate similar to the
cost of last year’s Event.
The Fall Event will cover aspects of 1:1/BYOD deployment,
but will also include our standard sessions for new
CIOs/DTCs.
- Spring
Conference. Our spring conference will be held
Wednesday-Friday, March 5-7,
2014, at the Galt House Hotel, Louisville. Watch for
a "Call for presenters" in August.
Budget
KySTE
obtains funds from membership dues, events, and vendors in the
form of donations, partnerships, and sponsorships. A balance
representing a contingency fund plus yearly operating expenses
is carried forward each July 1. KySTE returns all funds in
excess of this amount as services to our members, primarily as
grants through KySTE Outreach. (See below for
more about KySTE Outreach for 2013-14.)
As
of May 20, the following balances were reported:
- Checking:
$109,045.54
- Savings:
$150,291.06
- Outstanding/Payable:
$3,925.72 (credit card)
Other Committees
The
Governance Committee completed the 2nd reading
and obtained approval for several bylaws changes, including the
new committee and board position (see the May
13, 2013 Members Update for more) . No other committees had
presentations at this month's board meeting.
KySTE
Outreach News
Through gains
from this year's donations and events, plus undisbursed
grant funds from the previous year, KySTE again
anticipates being able to offer grant funds in excess
of $60,000 for 2013-14. As before, grants will be
offered only to KySTE members. Renew your
membership now!
