News From
the KySTE Board Conference Call
New
this year: KySTE successfully migrated its
conference call meetings to Lync. Congratulations to president
Diana McGhee for this technology step forward!
Planning
Committee
This
committee is in charge of planning KySTE events, including the
Fall Event and Spring Conference.
- Fall
Event: In addition to the BYOD/1-1 workshop in
partnership with UK/CASTLE, VP Erin Waggoner is
spearheading the recruiting of a professional presenter on
the issue of eRate application and compliance, as a part of
the DTC/CIO thread. UK's workshop covers two days (Oct.
28-29). KySTE's event is only Monday, Oct. 28. Registration
fees will be consistent with last year ($75 includes KySTE
membership, with $50 for existing members). Registration
will open soon. Note new
date and location: Monday, Oct. 28, Lexington
Convention Center.
- KySTE
2014: The conference "Call for Presenters" opened
August 7, deadline Oct. 15. Read
the "Call for presenters" information email here
(vendors: your email is slightly different, available
here).
Budget
As
of August 1, the following balances were reported:
- Checking:
$60,097.37
- Savings:
$: $200,369.16
- Outstanding/Payable:
$33,275 (KySTE Outreach grant disbursements)
KySTE
obtains funds from membership dues, events, and vendors in the
form of donations, partnerships, and sponsorships. A balance
representing a contingency fund plus yearly operating expenses
is carried forward each July 1. KySTE returns all funds in
excess of this amount as services to our members, primarily as
grants through KySTE Outreach. A full
reporting of Fiscal 2012-13 has yet to be completed. A final
decision about the 2013-14 KySTE Outreach
offering will be made after that report has been received (see
below).
Other
Committees
All
committee assignments have been updated for the fiscal year.
Watch kyste.org for details. The board also discussed the time
and location for its Fall Board Retreat.
KySTE
Outreach News
KySTE Outreach
is gearing up for another year! All forms, rubrics, and
application instructions have been completed, ready for
a September 15 release! Again this year, grants will be
awarded only to KySTE members (make sure your
application team is ready!). The final offering has yet
to be determined, but, as predicted, will be above last
year's $60,000 total offering. Deadline for application
wil be December 15.
Attention,
Vendors. KySTE has changed its "Vendor
Partner" program this year, providing for four levels
of sponsorship. All donations benefit KySTE Outreach,
and qualify as tax deductible for 501(c)(3) charitable
donations.
- •Platinum:
$10,000. This level includes full branding
opportunities, including a logo on all KySTE
communications and strategic conference
materials/locations.
- Gold:
$5,000. This level includes branding for specific
events at the conference, and many other
options.
- Silver:
$2,500. This level includes conference refreshment
sponsorship recognition, as well as other branding
opportunities, including a banner ad in the
conference app.
- Bronze:
$1,250. This level includes limited branding
opportunities.
