Announcing This Year's KySTE Award Winners!

Join us at the closing ceremony of KySTE 2014 (Friday, March 7, 11:45 a.m., Archibald Ball Room, Galt House West) to celebrate this year's award winners!

  • Outstanding Leader: Jana Hickey (Jefferson County Public Schools). Jana is the eLearning specialist at JCPS, and is slated to retire this year after 34 years of service to public schools.
  • Outstanding Teacher: Randy Barrette (Menifee County Schools). A Spanish and World Cultures teacher at Menifee Co. High, Randy is a strong leader and advocate for the integration of technology not only in the high school but throughout the district and state.
  • Outstanding Technology Support Staff: Zachary Dean  (Carroll County Public Schools). Zachary is the Network Administrator for Carroll County. His spirit, drive and expectations inspire all students and staff.  He is a great resource in his district!
  • Making IT Happen: Terri Stice (Green River Regional Educational Cooperative). Throughout her career, Terri’s professional goal has been to raise student achievement by the use of technology.  Her consistent effort and work have impacted the role of education technology not only at the local level, but at the state and national levels as well. (Terri is a past KySTE Outreach grant winner.)

More about the awards...

The coveted, internationally recognized "Making IT Happen" award is provided by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), of which KySTE is an affiliate. The "Outstanding Teacher" and "Outstanding Leader" awards mirror similar awards offered by ISTE. State winners of these awards are automatically submitted to ISTE for nomination at the international level. The "Outstanding Technology Support Staff" award is Kentucky-only, a reflection of KySTE's committment to the tireless technicians who support and enhance the use of education technology.

Nominations for all four awards are solicited each fall from KySTE members.
