KySTE Members Update

News from the front of lines of Kentucky Education Technology.

April 23, 2014. This mostly-monthly newsletter contains announcements and information from the KySTE Board meetings. Look below for the latest news from the Kentucky Society for Technology in Education.

News From the KySTE Board Conference Call

KySTE's conference call was April 21 over Microsoft Lync.

Planning Committee

This committee is in charge of planning KySTE events, including the Fall Event and Spring Conference.

  • KySTE 2014:
    • Registration counts were 1363. This is slightly lower than last year, most likely due to increased district budget pressure and schedule complications from the weather.
    • The Balance Sheet shows that the conference ended in the black, mostly due to sponsorships. Click here for a comparison of balance sheets of the last 5 spring conferences (PDF).
    • Conference App received stellar reviews from those responding to our online survey. Look for enhancements next year!
  • 2014 Fall Event:
    • Date: The event has been scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014 at the Lexington Convention Center at Rupp Arena. There will be no 2nd day "Innovations" sessions this year.
    • Partnership: Once again, the University of Kentucky College of Education will be an event partner. Planning for an Event focus starts shortly.

Budget Committee

The current income and expense figures reflect activity and expenses from KySTE 2014 for the month of March.  The balance is current as of April 21.

  • Income: $84,830.97
  • Expenses: $194,316.72
  • Current Balance $297,315.56

Outstanding obligations include KySTE Outreach grants, the KySTE Board spring retreat, and operating expenses. KySTE continues to operate in the black!

    • Morgan Taylor (Monroe County)

Contact information for board members can be found here.

KySTE Outreach News

This year's Platinum Vendor Partners have already committed partnership support for next year. In addition, Executive Director Gary Grant has commitments from at least two, possibly three, additional sponsors for 2014-15. KySTE Outreach's annual grant offerings will continue to expand! Next year's offering will be decided soon -- watch for an announcement in August.
