News From the KySTE Board Meeting, Monday, February 9, 2015

Budget/Finance Committee

This committee is in charge of planning and managing KySTE's financial needs, and is chaired by Matthew Constant, KySTE Treasurer. Key activities include deposits from TMC of conference receivables. $100,000 has been moved to an investment portfolio managed by a non-profit foundation. 

  • Treasurer's Report: 
    • Total Checking and Savings: $271,717.89
    • Accounts Receivable:  $41,451.84
    • Accounts Payable: $10,859.07
    • Total Current Assets: $371,717.89

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is chaired by KySTE VP Cheri Gossett. The Elections are "in the wild," links to the Survey Monkey ballots were sent to all members Monday, Feb. 9. Contact Cheri if you did not receive one. (Regional Reps are elected within their regions -- contact your regional rep or regional group leadership for details. Winners will be announced at the close of elections, and will be recognized at the conference. For more about Board positions, see the KySTE Bylaws. 

Planning Committee

This committee, chaired by President Erin Waggoner,  is in charge of planning KySTE events, including the Fall Event and Spring Conference.

  • Fall Event: Vice President Cheri Gossett reports that the event will once again include Jeff Sebulsky and serve STLP coordinators. Sessions will also serve non-leadership roles (TIS/TRT, Tech), though the focus of the Event will remain consistent throughout (legal and security issues). 
  • KySTE 2015 
    • Conference App Now Available from Google Play and iTunes store, with other platforms served by an HTML5 web interface at http://m.core-apps.com/kyste2015. From now on, look to the app for the latest in presentation, event, and preconference workshop information.
    • Registration remains open, with Early Bird registration closing this Monday, Feb. 16.

Awards Committee

This committee, chaired by ISTE Liaison Mary Ann Rankin, is charged with coordinating the KySTE awards and STLP scholarships. All applications have been received, and will be numerically scored by the Awards Committee and Regional Representatives. Winners will be announced shortly, and recognized at the conference.

Other committees had no new items for this board meeting.

KySTE Outreach News

The KySTE Outreach grants for 2015 have been announced! On recommendation from the scorers, KySTE very slightly supplemented this year's offering to accommodate the top 6 winners. A total of $100,059.21 will be distributed. The following applicants will receive funding this year.

  • Computer Education (Jefferson County)
  • Barren County
  • Eminence Independent High School (Eminence Independent)
  • Northern Elementary (Pendleton County)
  • Henry County High School (Henry County)
  • Crossroads Elementary (Bullitt County)
