News From the KySTE ConCall July 14, 2015

This mostly-monthly newsletter contains announcements and information from the KySTE Board meetings, and other sources. Look below for the latest news from the Kentucky Society for Technology in Education.

Fall Event

The Fall Event will be limited to 300 people so that participants can benefit from small group discussions with the experts. Registration will open in late August.

  • When: Oct. 21, 2015
  • Where: Galt House, Louisville
  • Topics: Technology and the Law!
    Discussions will be led Education Law specialists that can answer questions and provide examples of cases currently under review.
    • handling issues with district devices
    • social media
    • misbehavior during school time on personal devices
    • copyright
    • data breaches
    • digital record retention
  • Who: We encourage each district to send not only their CIO, but also Board Attorneys and other district leadership that could benefit from hearing and discussing this type of information.

Treasurer's Report

Dr. Matthew Constant, KySTE Treasurer, reported the following:

  • Total endowment sits at approximately $102,000
  • A few outstanding payments are still expected

KySTE Outreach News

Thank you to our 2015-2016 Platinum Partners for supporting the KySTE Outreach: Pomeroy, Extreme Networks, and Creative Image Technologies! We are still working with our other partners to finalize the total amount of funding for this year. Watch for an announcement of the 2015-16 KySTE Outreach offering in August.

ISTE News

Our Kentucky STLP students had a blast in Philidelphia at the annual ISTE conference. KySTE is proud of these students' excellent representation!

Spring Conference - KySTE 2016
