Welcome to the KySTE Forums

I hope our members find these forums useful for discussions; as useful as the current TRT and DTC listservs! Use the General forums for discussions about anything, but remember to play nice!

Please note that certain forums are restricted to paying members only, so be sure to log into the web site to view these forums.

Thanks and let the chatter begin!

What's in a FORUM??

I think the Forum is a great benefit for members. Many times, I know there will be a discussion that takes place on the listserv which don't pertain to me at the time.  Then, all of the sudden, I have the same question and don't want to send an email to the listserv for the same info.
Rather than going through the past logs from the listserv, it would be great to have a Forum made up of members associated with technology to consult!

I think it would be good to stick with our 3 main strands: Instructional, Technical, and Instructional and then have subtopics under these.

I think it would also be great to have comments on KDE initiatives as they are rolling out so we know what to expect from our peers.  It's also nice to know who has already done something if I have a question.

I know a Forum for USF/ERate would have been very beneficial all those years ago when I first started and was clueless on what I was doing!!!

Welcome Here? ;)

Hi folks,  I joined KySTE today..."Back in the day" when I was Cathy Brandt, a teacher and then a technology resource teacher I was a part of so many of these groups and programs.  I took a different path as I began to work in a more focused way in "school improvement" (not that we all aren't).  However, in my role now, although our main focus in increasing student achievement and improving schools my Office is VERY MUCH in tune with ways we can use technology as a tool to impact that.  I feel as though I need to be back in the think tank with those of you who continue to stay on the cutting edge in both the technical and instructional areas as you find ways as your mission says to promote educational excellence.

Additionally, I am teaching pre-service teachers at Eastern Kentucky University.  As I use technology with those students, requiring blog activity, technology as a part of their assignments, etc. I want to be continually learning from all of you who are leaders in the state so that I can ensure I am preparing these students to enter your districts ready to use the technology that will be available to them.

I look forward to learning from and along with you ways that we can continue to use technology to empower students and to impact the learning and achievement of all of our students, k-16.
