On January 19th, 2017 the Kentucky Society for Technology in Education (KySTE) Board unanimously voted to hire Lorena Webb as its Executive Director.  Webb will retire from her position as Library Media Specialist from the Madison County Schools on June 30th to assume the new KySTE duties.

Ms. Webb has served in Kentucky’s public schools the past 27 years in many capacities including computer aide, classroom teacher, school technology coordinator, and STLP sponsor.  She has maintained many years of KySTE membership and involvement as a presenter in multiple spring conferences.

“Lorena was a standout candidate for the position.  Her passion and energy for advancing KySTE’s mission is infectious and our membership will experience this at the upcoming Spring conference,” said Susan Vincentz, KySTE President.

Lorena is excited to begin working with the KySTE Board, saying “I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve as the Executive Director. I will work diligently to ensure that KySTE continues to grow in manner that facilitates the integration of technology in the classroom.  I consider myself a resource and will work persistently to build relationships with KySTE members and embrace the path that Gary Grant has worked to create.”

Webb replaces Gary Grant, who has served over 7 years as Executive Director.  Gary helped grow the KySTE footprint by helping to increase membership, sponsorships, and conference experiences.  “Gary will be sorely missed and we can’t thank him enough for his service”, said Greta Casto, KySTE Vice-President.

Webb assumes official duties on July 1, 2017 and will be shadowing Grant throughout the upcoming conference March 8-10 at the Galt House in Louisville.
