for Presenters: Vendors

|
#KySTE15,
the conference of the Kentucky Society for Technology in
Education, invites
you to present. Nearly 2,000 information
technology leaders, technicians, network specialists, tech
resource/integration specialists, classroom teachers,
administrators/district leaders, library media specialists,
instructional technology teachers, and other education professionals
are expected to attend. Share your methods, experiences, and services!
This year’s conference theme is “Welcome to the Future”
Session
Formats
Conference sessions are 45
minutes in length, using one of the following formats:
- Presentations
-- lecture format.
- Computer
labs -- Only a
limited number of labs are available -- we cannot guarantee one.
- Intelligent
Classroom -- interactive white boards and
other "intelligent classroom" tools. (If your presentation is
brand-specific, please tell us, or bring your own hardware)
- Bring
your Own Laptop/Personal Device -- session attendees can
bring their own devices
for online activities and "software in the cloud."
We also categorize
presentations by "strand" (Technical, Instructional, Leadership,
Library/Media), and "level" (beginner, intermediate, advance). If your
target is specific (network administrators, online learning
specialists, etc.), include that in the description.
Session
Topics
Education
technology is a broad field. Your proposed presentation might focus
on...
- Enterprise-level
technology for district selection, deployment, support, and training.
- Hardware
selection, deployment, and support..
- Emerging
education and enterprise technologies.
- Technology-driven
classroom resources, practices, and ideas.
- Technology use
in support of the Common Core and Next Generation Standards.
- Multimedia in
the district, school, and classroom.
- Ideas which
leverage connections (real-time or otherwise) across distances.
- Hybrid/blended,
"flipped," and distance education tools and strategies.
- Assistive
technology/Universal Design for Learning.

Presentation FAQs
Most of our presenters tend
to be practitioners, but many are vendors like you. Here are some
answers to questions vendors have asked us in the past:
- Do
I have to exhibit to present? No! We
encourage you to purchase an exhibit hall booth as the best
way to work individually with attendees (booths are inexpensive!), but
we do not require it.
- If
I pay to exhibit, am I guaranteed that my application to present will
be approved? No, sorry. All applications are scored on
their quality and relevance to our attendees. We do not give special
treatment to vendors or other application categories.
- How
might I improve my chances? There is no substitute for a
well-written application. 1) The best presentation is one which shows
your product or service at work in a district or school. Having a
classroom teacher or district technician as a co-presenter helps,
as do hands-on activities. Presentations which are just sales
pitches generally are not approved. 2) Assume those who read your
application have no idea who you are, or what your product/service is.
Tell us! 3) We're all educators, so spelling and punctuation do count.
- Can
I offer a pay workshop? No. All "concurrent sessions"
are free, and all last 45 minutes.
- Can
I present more than once? Certainly! Apply as often as
you'd like.
- Can
I set up special equipment? Yes, though there are only
15 minutes between presentations (and you probably won't get all that
time for your setup). If you'd like access to your presentation space
early, contact us, and we'll do our best to accommodate.
- Can
I give away door prizes? This method of insuring
presentation attendance is frowned upon. If you want to give things
away, purchase an exhibit hall booth, and do so there. You're welcome
to invite session attendees to your booth.
