From the KySTE Spring Retreat, Sunday/Monday, April 26-27, 2015
KySTE 2015 Refund ProcessDid you register for this event, but did not
attend because of the weather? Although KySTE Board policy is no
refunds on conference registration after Feb. 16, we're working with
our event underwriter on the issue of weather. Read this announcement
from Executive Director Gary Grant for details, whether you
might qualify, and how to apply for the refund. But hurry! New Board

KySTE
Announces the addition of two new board members!
- Amy Johns, Region 5 Representative.
Amy replaces Brett Higgins, who moved to a new job in February. Amy
began her term in March.
- Nikkol,
Bauer, Communications Officer. Nikkol will replace
Jeffrey L. Jones when he retires from public education July 1,
2015.
As
per the
KySTE Bylaws, positions vacated between election cycles
will be filled by executive appointment, with board approval. Would you
like to join the KySTE board? See "Elections" on kyste.org for
details.
Budget/Finance
Committee
This
committee is in charge of planning and managing KySTE's financial
needs, and is chaired by Matthew Constant, KySTE Treasurer.
Key recent activities include ongoing disbursements for conference
expenses,
and KySTE Outreach grants.

Planning
Committee
This
committee is in charge
of planning KySTE events, including the Fall
Event and Spring Conference.

Event. Incoming KySTE President Cheri Gossett is in charge
of planning this event.

Registration
information will be sent out at a later date.

Louisville
- Topics: Legal
matters such as the legal way to
handle issues with district devices, social media, and misbehavior
during school
time on personal devices. Other topics will include questions about
Copyright, Data Breaches, Digital Record Retention, etc. These
discussions will be led by Education Law specialists that can answer
questions
and provide examples of cases currently under review.
- Who: We
encourage each
district to send not only their CIO, but also Board Attorneys and other
district leadership that could benefit from hearing and discussing this
type of
information.
